Kevin and Madi; Nani [Kathy]; Troy, Tatiana, and Rini - Thanksgiving 2013
Family Photo Album
Welcome family and friends. Hope you enjoy sharing some fun times on the East Coast.
The weather is more consistently cold now, and we've had some snow. We've actually used two snow days from school, much to the delight of Tatiana [now in kindergarten] and Nani.
Christmas is quickly approaching. Time was well occupied this month, so we decided to forego the annual trek to cut down a tree, and decorated an artifical one [shhhhh...... don't tell Kathy, who loves the cutting-down-the-tree routine]. It is still pretty, and the kids had fun helping with the decorating.
Debby hosted her annual holiday pot luck Open House this month. She had the house nicely decorated and there was plenty to munch on. It was nice to have some relaxing time, enjoying the company of a few people who were still in town that weekend and catching up on everyone's recent activities.
Mindy managed to reach a benchmark in her education, and finished the last two courses required for her Associates' degree. She will graduate from the community college in January and is planning on transferring into the Universities at Shady Grove. This site offers many programs from the various Maryland University campuses. Her current comparative politics professor has written her a very nice letter of recommendation for her to present as she works through the application and transfer process. She is also working one weekend part time job at the Mall and working a seasonal weekend job as well.
With his great customer service style, Jason is still busy helping interested car shoppers at the dealership in Frederick. Days can be long, but at least he generally knows when his days off will be scheduled.
Enough writing. Grab your hot chocolate and comforter, and share a glimpse into some fun on the East Coast.
Meet the newest "addition" to the family.....
Kathy's Chevy Tracker was a really fun vehicle and she really loved driving it. But, after many years [like a dozen] and with 130,000+ miles, it was showing its age and how much it had been loved [read "practically lived in"]. It was also only designed to hold four people, which was fine back when it was purchased but was now causing a challenge with the growing families in the house.
Long story short.... after much consideration and looking to find that reasonable yet affordable solution, Mindy and Kathy decided to see about trading in both their cars together and try to find a car that they could share -- since, for various reasons, they were essentially sharing one car already. Thanks to Mindy's encouragement to go talk to her dad about potential options, and thanks to great accommodations on the part of the dealership, this Chrysler 200 unexpectedly came home a few weeks ago. And, YES, three car seats fit in the back seat. That makes for a very happy Nani who can chauffeur a variety of "configurations" of grandkids.
[If you're in the market for a Nissan, son-in-law Jason would be happy to show you around Younger Nissan in Frederick. Dave has since moved to Fitzgerald in Gaithersburg.]
